The difference between sandblasting anodized and anodizing of aluminum profiles

After the extrusion, the surface of aluminum profiles is treated to prevent corrosion, scratches, decor, and aesthetic effects.

There are many surface treatment processes for industrial aluminum profiles. They are including anodizing, sandblasting, powder coating commonly.

Different working environments can use corresponding surface treatment methods, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

We will explain the difference between sandblasting oxidation and anodizing here below.

1、 The processing different between sandblasting and anodizing.

1).

Sandblasting is the process of using external force to spray sand particles onto the surface of a workpiece, achieving effects such as coarsening, cleaning, and decoration. When the external force is compressed air, it is called dry sandblasting, and when it is water, it is called wet sandblasting.

2).

Anodizing refers to the oxidation of aluminum and aluminum alloys in sulfuric acid or other solutions generally . The workpiece is hung with an anodizing, and the aluminum or lead plate is hung with a cathode. By applying direct current, a porous, high hardness, and good insulation oxide film can be obtained.

2、 Different processing methods.

Sandblasting of aluminum profiles belongs to physical treatment, but the anodizing of aluminum profiles belongs to chemical treatment.

Generally speaking, if the aluminum profile cannot meet the anti-corrosion requirements after anodizing treatment, it needs to be sandblasted and then coated to achieve the expected purpose.

3、 The processing effect is different.

Sandblasting treatment of aluminum profiles can clean, remove burrs, burrs, change roughness, and achieve a glossy effect. However, anodizing treatment of aluminum profiles does not have these effects.

4、 Different corrosion resistance.

The sandblasted surface of aluminum profiles does not have a protective layer, which does not meet the anti-corrosion requirements. Anodized firm of aluminum profiles can meet certain anti-corrosion requirements.
