Application of Aluminum Anodizing in Industry

Putting aluminum and its alloys in a suitable electrolyte as an anode for energization is called anodizing. After anodizing with aluminum alloy anodizing equipment, an oxide film with a thickness of several to several hundred microns can be generated on the aluminum surface. The surface of this oxide film is porous honeycomb-shaped.

Compared with the natural oxide film of aluminum alloy, its corrosion resistance, wear resistance and decorative properties are significantly improved and enhanced. By using different electrolytes and process conditions, anodized films with different properties can be obtained.

Aluminum anodizing process is widely used in the surface treatment of aluminum products. The industrial applications can be roughly divided into the following types.

1) Prevent product corrosion: The film layer obtained by anodizing has good stability in the atmosphere after proper sealing treatment. Moreover, the oxide film obtained after anodizing has good corrosion resistance.

2) Protection-decoration: On the oxide film with high transparency, the oxide film has the characteristics of being able to absorb a variety of organic dyes or inorganic pigments. Various bright and bright colors and patterns can be obtained on the oxide film. This color film is both a decorative layer and an anti-corrosion layer.

3) As a hard wear-resistant layer: The thick and hard film layer obtained by anodizing aluminum is used. The pores and absorption properties of the film layer are used to store the selected oil, which is effectively applied to working conditions under friction. It also has the characteristics of lubrication and wear resistance.

4) As an electrical insulating layer: The oxide film layer of aluminum and its alloys has the characteristics of high resistance. The thickness of the film layer is proportional to the resistance. This feature has certain practical significance as an electrical insulation. It can be used as a dielectric of a capacitor, and aluminum oxide can also be used as the outer sheath of a cable.

5) As a base layer for spray painting and electroplating: Because the oxide film layer has porosity and good adsorption capacity, it has good bonding with the paint film and organic film, and can be used as a base layer for spray painting. The film layer using phosphoric acid anodizing can be used as the base layer for electroplating on aluminum.

6) Used in modern buildings: Due to the introduction of aluminum alloy electrolytic coloring technology, the application of domestic electrolytic coloring in architectural aluminum profiles has increased in recent years. It not only has bronze, black, red and other colors suitable for architectural colors, but also has excellent wear resistance and light resistance.
